Mildred 'Midge' Goldberg of Pacific Palisades passed away peacefully on June 24 at the age of 83.
Born of Swedish descent on October 17, 1925 to Algot and Emma Sanders, Midge was raised on a farm in Arcadia. Four years after graduating from MAD (Monrovia, Arcadia, Duarte) High School, she met her true love, Murray Goldberg, and married on January 11, 1948. Murray was a school teacher and principal.
The couple, who moved to Pacific Palisades in 1965, enjoyed a happy union for 61 years that produced two sons, both of whom followed in their father's footsteps as teachers.
As Midge raised her family, she worked for Hughes Aircraft in Culver City as an administrative secretary for over 20 years. She also volunteered for numerous organizations such as the 1984 Olympics, the Daybreak Women's Homeless Shelter of Santa Monica, and Paul Revere Junior High.
Midge and Murray founded, in perpetuity, scholarship funds to reward high-achieving, Jewish high school graduates and equally qualified Lutheran high school graduates.
In addition to her husband, Midge is survived by her sons Murray I. (Sandy) of Los Alamitos and Michael of Redondo Beach, as well as grandchildren Catherine (Katie) and Donald Joseph (Joey).
Private services were held on June 28 at Westwood Village Memorial Park.
